Cycling culture is slowly beginning to take root in Fiji with locals and several areas are good for cycling. Both the main islands Viti Levu and Vanua Levu offer sealed roads, with a scenic stretch from Labasa to Savusavu on Vanua Levu. Parts of Ovalau and Taveuni are also good for cycling. However, be careful of drivers as they are not used to seeing cyclists on their roads.
The best time to go cycling is during the dry season, which runs from May to October, while the eastern side of the islands tends to be wetter due to more rainfall. You may want to bring your own demountable bike as bike rentals are few and far between. Mountain bikes are best if going inland as the roads tend to be rough and hilly. A specialist bike store at the entrance of Nadi Town offers bikes for rentals, parts and repairs. Day and overnight specialist cycling tours also operate out of Nadi.
